With our trip to Snowdonia safely back (despite getting through 20l of mulled wine between them!), it's time to announce our final trip of term, to the Yorkshire Dales. Also, a formal at Churchill college, and a heads-up about both stash and our final social of term. In the meantime, our pub meets, at the Castle Inn each Thursday evening from 9.30p.m., continue.
- Selside Trip, Yorkshire Dales, 24th to 26th November
- Churchill Formal, 28th November
- Stash on the horizon
Selside centre, SW Yorkshire Dales, 24th to 26th November
We'll be staying in the Selside centre (Grid reference SD 781758, postcode BD24 0HZ), right in the middle of Yorkshire's famous 3 peaks of Pen Y Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, and within walking distance of both Malham Cove and the Howgills. Appropriately enough for a trip spanning Bridgemass, there's a not insignificant chance of snow, and we'll all be cooking a Christmas feast. We’ll leave Cambridge around 17:30 on Friday the 24th November, and be back well before midnight on Sunday the 26th November. The hut has 23 places, and the trip fee is £42.
To sign up, fill in this webform, before 6p.m. on Sunday the 19th November, stating your name, e-mail and (if you'd like) the names and e-mail addresses of up to 2 people with whom you'd like to go. Places will be assigned at random, with either all or none of the people you name getting a place, with the same likelihood as if you applied alone. If you get a place and drop out, you'll be less likely to get a place on future trips, and if we're unable to find a replacement you'll have to pay for your place.
If you've any general questions, there's basic trip information on our website. If that doesn't help, feel free to drop me an email.
Churchill formal, 7p.m., 28th November
We're holding our final Club formal of the year at Churchill College, at 7p.m. on Tuesday the 28th November. Come along to chat about the Club, to discuss winter walking plans, or to cross another college off the list with your fellow hillwalkers. The cost will be £13; the dress code is formal, though with no need for gowns; and wine is BYOB. Sign up using this form, for which you'll need an account on our website.
Upcoming stash order, plus Xmas curry
Keep watching your e-mails, since the most exciting event of the year will soon be announced. More hotly contested than bumps, bigger than a May Ball, it's the CUHWC annual new stash order! With a range of designs, colours and sizes available, for t-shirts, fleeces and beanies, plus wicking t-shirts new this year, and the ever-popular CUHWC mugs, you won't want to miss out...
Also coming up, in the final week of term, is our annual Christmas curry and secret santa. Keep a look out!
