Easter Term Bulletin 2
Hello Hillwalkers,
Just a short one with a few reminders...
- Scotland Planning Meeting - TONIGHT, 2130, Castle Inn
- Day Trip to The Roaches - Sunday 23 May, £17
- Socials - regular and extraordinary
- Andy Gibson Training Fund deadline - TOMORROW
1. Scotland Planning Meeting - TONIGHT, 2130, Castle Inn
If you're interested in joining a club camping trip to Scotland over the summer, come along to the pub tonight - we'll be in the Castle Inn on Castle Street from 2130 as usual. We should be fairly obvious (probably upstairs, though worth checking downstairs and outside as well) - but if you can't find us then feel free to ring me (07932 136107). Dates, location and even number of trips are completely dependent on whoever turns up - if you want to have a say but can't make the meeting then email me your thoughts, ideally by 1600 today. Coming to the meeting and contributing to discussion does not commit you to going on the trip; similarly, failure to turn up or email me at this stage does not mean you can't sign up for the trip later, but you will have relinquished your right to complain about the logistics! Hope to see lots of you there.
2. Day Trip to The Roaches - Sunday 23 May, £17
We're going to The Roaches and surrounding area for the day on Sunday 23 May - see the last bulletin for more details. Sign-up instructions are on the trip information page on our website - email me by next Tuesday (18 May) to guarantee transport.
3. Socials - regular and extraordinary
Our regular social events continue throughout exam term. Club lunches are on Mondays from 1315, in Murray Edwards JCR (PDF college map). You've got to have lunch some time - so why not let someone else buy the food and simply turn up to eat it in good company? Just to make things a bit more interesting, later this term for two weeks only, lunches will be in the sole charge of ex-President and guest Social Secretary Dave Farrow - I'm not quite sure what to expect (whisky and bananas?), but entertainment is guaranteed... Pub meets are on Thursdays in the Castle Inn on Castle Street, from 2130 until closing time - they're always lively and well-attended with a good cross-section of club members and often a new face or two - the more the merrier!
Also coming up on Saturday 12 June are THE hillwalking social events of the year: the Annual Garden Party and Overnight Punting. In case you missed the email and haven't yet got into the habit of obsessively checking the website, all details and instructions for how to book your place are here - email bcg25 or jp40 with any queries. Don't miss out!
4. Andy Gibson Training Fund deadline - TOMORROW
All information is on the website here - hopefully you've already looked at it if you're going to apply, but it's not too late and it doesn't take long...
Details of the end-of-term Patterdale trip to follow shortly...if you haven't already, start re-arranging your life now to be free 4-6 June - it's going to be brilliant!
Cheers,
Jo
