Join CUHWC in Scotland this September!
If your summer so far has been lacking in hills, then join us for a few days on the west coast of Scotland! (If it hasn't, that's no excuse - there's no such thing as too many hills.) We'll be camping at Shielbridge Campsite from 18-26 September - you can come for as many or few nights as you like. All are welcome, whether you're an old hand, have only just joined, or have been lurking dormant on the mailing list for years and never quite made it on a trip...
This is a great chance to get a bit further afield than we can in term time and to walk in some bigger, wilder hills. September is a great time to be in Scotland - the crowds have gone home, the heather's out on the hillside and the weather's (possibly) a bit more settled. Situated north of Fort William (but not too inaccesible), Glen Shiel offers access to a superb range of mountains big and small, including the Five Sisters of Kintail to the north and The Saddle to the south. The campsite has all the usual facilities, including a shop and petrol station close by, and costs £5.50 per person per night. You'll pay both this and your transport costs on an individual basis, so there is no trip fee as such. Transport is not provided by the club, but we will advise on public transport and attempt to coordinate lift-sharing. If you'd like to come but don't have camping gear, you'll be able to borrow or share with someone - we'll organise this in advance.
If you're thinking of coming, please email Jo (jcs74) as soon as possible with as much information as you currently have about the dates you'd like to come for, whether you have space in a tent that you can share or whether you need a space in someone else's, where you would be coming from and how you are thinking of getting there. Please include your phone number if you don't think I have it. If you've already told me you're interested, you should have received an email from me last week - if not then please email me again with the details! You can see how organisation is progressing by checking the wiki regularly.
We have a provisional group of about 10 people - it would be great to take over even more of the campsite though, so check your diary, extricate yourself from any engagements you might have that week and get emailing!
