Malverns Day Trip 2010

Event Type:
Day trip
Event Location:
Malvern Hills, Herefordshire / Worcestershire
Event Description:
Join us for a day in the Malvern Hills on the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border. This is the first time the club has ever been there (at least according to an illustrious ex-President), so this is your chance to be part of history in the making! There's something for everyone: geology, history, grassy ridges, crags and even the odd pub and cafe. Rising to the dizzy heights of 425m at Worcestershire Beacon, the Malverns are formed from some of the most ancient rocks in the country, and, being an isolated range, afford stunning views of the surrounding countryside on a clear day. If that's not enough, Herefordshire Beacon is the site of British Camp, an iron age hill fort, and there's also some climbing to be found in the northern section for those of a vertical persuasion. Maps will be available at lunch and pub meets in the run-up to the trip. It's about 2.5 hours' drive, so we'll be meeting at Churchill at 0700 for a 0715 departure in the minibus. We should be back in Cambridge by 2300.
